Dharmendra On Importance Of Yoga: ‘People Call Me Old, I Am Still Young’

On the occasion of the International Day of Yoga, veteran actor Dharmendra opened up about the significance of yoga. In a recent interview, the Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani actor credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for championing yoga worldwide.

“I think Modi ji started it, and before that, Ramdev ji also began this movement. Many people from other countries wanted to patent it, but it didn’t happen. This is our civilisation, our culture, which has been going on for centuries. And it is necessary,” Dharmendra told the news agency ANI.

The actor mentioned that yoga is not just an exercise but also helps in overcoming various health issues. “Yoga can cure many diseases. If you have breathing problems, remember that health is wealth,” he said.

The 89-year-old actor further gave a befitting reply to all those who call him old and said, “Many people call me old, but I am still young.”

“I used to dream of working hard and cycling. I would see my reflection in film posters and ask myself, ‘What am I going to achieve?’ I used to wake up at night and dream, and when I woke up in the morning, I would ask the mirror,” he shared.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Dharmendra was last seen in Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon’s Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya. Released in February 2024, the film received positive reviews from all and is now streaming on Prime Video.
